Feeding Our Community
The Food Pantry is Open!
The Food Pantry at Saint Joseph of the Holy Family was established in 1871. It is one of the oldest operating food pantries in New York City, serving groceries to an average of 300 families per week. Every other Saturday we provide groceries and supplies to those in need.
Groceries include canned goods, vegetables, pasta, rice, beans, cereal, oatmeal, juice, and other healthy options. Clients are able to select items and are asked to bring their own bag or small shopping cart when possible. The pantry gives each person representing a household groceries according to the amount of people in that household or immediate family.
Due to the pandemic, items are pre-selected and sandwiches & coffee are temporarily unavailable.
We will be open again on Saturday, July 10 and 24nd,
8:00 AM to 10:00 AM
During the Covid-19 Pandemic you do not have to register. Our modified hours during the Pandemic are every other Saturday from 8 AM to 10 AM.
To keep the food pantry running we rely on donations. You may drop off food in the lower level of the church - Komora Hall. See acceptable items and details on how to drop them off HERE.
For the month of June 2021, St Joseph of the Holy Family Food Pantry fed 2,021 people. June 5th, 291 households consisting of 353 children, 489 adults, and 236 seniors were given groceries. June 19th, 259 households consisting of 310 children, 444 adults, and 188 seniors were given groceries.. None of this would be possible without the assistance of our dedicated volunteers! Thank you!!
